So! You’ve found the product you want to purchase. You know your market and you know who you’re going to sell to.
But what next? How do I pay for it? How do I ship it? And how do I clear it through Customs?
Who do I go to for help?
All important questions for first time importers.
Since 1990 Freight On Board has been helping new and first time importers tackle these important and often daunting questions. Our no nonsense, simple approach and thorough explanations have reassured many importers over the years and given them the confidence to take on the world of international trade.
We’ll help you understand.
Incoterms
Establishing your terms of purchase using Incoterms. Incoterms are fundamental in international trade and determine where the obligations of the buyer and seller start and finish (for more information please refer to our Incoterms page).
Ordering
Placing your order with a supplier. Understanding lead times and packaging requirements.
Order Monitoring
Establishing when the order will be ready to ship and the weight, dimensions and size of your shipment.
Payment
Ensuring payment terms are set with your supplier and the obligations of both parties.
Shipping
Based on the size of your shipment and the Incoterms agreed upon between you and the seller we’ll work with you to determine the best way to ship your goods be it by air or sea, FCL or LCL. (for more information, please refer to our Seafreight and Airfreight pages).
Customs Brokerage
Once the shipping method has been established, we’ll help you understand the documents that will be needed to clear your shipment upon arrival. (for more information, please refer to our Customs Brokerage page located in the Services tab).
Biosecurity
Protection of Australia from exotic pests and diseases is a priority. We’ll make sure your goods have the correct permits and treatments in place before proceeding.
Import Duty and GST
As Licensed Customs Brokers we’ll be able to clear your goods through Customs and determine your Import duty and GST obligations.
Land Transport and Delivery
We’ll liaise with you to make sure your goods reach their final destination. (for more information, please refer to our Land Transport and Warehousing pages located in the Services tab).
Our aim is to help new and first-time importers become experienced international traders. Naturally, every international transaction is different, so too are the obligations and risks that new importers need to be aware of. In working for you we will explain the risks you may face as an importer and the obligations you have to your supplier, the Customs and Biosecurity departments and your customers. At the same time, we want to make the experience as simple and rewarding as possible and provide you with a clear understanding and vision.
